OC Roster

Since I got a bit on inspiration, I suppose it might be a good opportunity to use and describe two my Soulsborne OC I sometimes post about here - Nox and Nizsseax.

Nox - character tag "Dragonseeker and Usurper"

Involved in: Dark Souls trilogy, background character in Elden Ring

Basic info: failed sorceress from the Vinheim's Dragon School turned dragon-obsessed pyromancer. Klutz and often finds herself in some variety of a mess, with time also starts suffering from memory issues caused by prolonged existence as an undead.

Notable visual details: vibrant red dragon tattoos covering significant portion of her body; sickly pale and ashy skin; light-grey hair worn in long braids; red eyes. Darksign/Dark Sigil located on the backside of her left hand.

In her original iteration Nox had (badly researched and presented) albinism, in her present iteration her skin, hair and eye coloring is a result of how her first "death" involved a lot of uncontrolled pyromancy and her practically literally "rising from the ashes" in the aftermath.

Trivia: afraid of spiders, uses "quirky outgoing silly undead" as persona to hide behind, allergic to talking about her feelings and especially about her grief

Verses:

- main version of Nox is a protagonist/deuteragonist of the Dark Souls trilogy in the final of the trilogy making the choice to usurp the First Flame and becoming Lord of Hollows (still a klutz)

- alternate version of Nox - Paledrake Nox stays in the Duke's Archives and eventually transforms into a paledrake form, not unlike the one of Consumed King Oceiros. A bit friendlier compared to him, though

- post-game version of Nox - now as a Lord of Hollows shrinking their lordly duties appears as background character in the Elden Ring as a comedic relief eldritch horror

Nizsseax - character tag "Oath-sworn and Reborn"

Involved in: Elden Ring

Basic info: Tarnished glintstone sorceress of the Raya Lucaria Nissa merged into one with the ancient dragon Aizsseax oath-sworn to the royal family of Caria in a rite of Rebirth.

Nissa as a Tarnished was hounded from the Lands Between and returned with the call of Grace, while Aizsseax was killed in the civil war and salvaged for the alchemical ingredients barring few of the scales Nissa was able to find upon her return.

Notable visual details: as the joining of Nissa and Aizsseax into one being is not natural by any means their body is slowly changing and twisting, both dragon scales and glintstone overtaking (im?)mortal form. Claws, dragon eyes and proudly-worn colours and sigils of Full Moon and Dark Moon.

Trivia: Nizsseax are fiercely loyal to Rennala and their journey takes them across the Lands Between in an attempt to help Rennala heal her broken heart. It eventually leads Nizsseax into service of Lady Ranni, of whom they become equally protective and loyal to. Aizsseax is rather insufferable being stuffed into pitiful human form, while Nissa is a small ball of anxiety one rude sentence away from crying.

Verses:

- main version of Nizsseax is a Tarnished in service of Rennala and Ranni, traveling the land in search of things that might help Rennala and on the orders from Ranni

- post-game Nissa and Aizsseax are once again separated and Celestial Consort Nissa departs for the stars with Ranni, while Aizsseax remains in the Lands Between returning to her watch as the oath-sworn dragon of Rennala

Also! Playing Elden Ring these days, so obviously I am thinking about Dark Souls, which means that I am obviously thinking about Yuria of Londor.

And this means I am also thinking a lot about the joke, turned an actual OC canon relationship between her and my Ashen One (and general Dark Souls protagonist), Nox the Undead Gremlin pyromancer.

I mean, you know that it is going to be a fun character dynamic when you can add "and than they fought the god together".

Send 🎱 to meet an alternative version of my muse.

((So, aside from the general Nox, who is pretty much the local undead loitering around and annoying people, let’s call this one wanderer, there are some alternative versions. Or in some cases possibilities? Anyway, sum up! I am not saying that I am planning to use any of these for RP in this blog, but… Who knows what can happen. Also I just really like thinking about possibilities.

Hollow Lord. Nox, who teamed up with Yuria and usurped the First Fire, with one rather chill friend fighting the gods, lords, monsters, hollows and all the impossible odds alongside her.In this case she is pretty much tired with everything, even done to the point where the whole idea of usurping the Fire seemed worth of trying. Still sort of dork and has literally no idea how to be a Lord, just between us. Pray for Yuria. Mostly a reason and setting to make dumb jokes. Occasionally more serious stuff happens.

Mad Scholar. Devotion to dragon studying is a tricky matter, that seems to result in rather unpleasant thing quite often. In this case too. Most likely this one starts after the DS1 with Nox staying at the Duke’s Archives for researches. So, at some point, she goes Oceiros style mad and starts working on transforming herself into a dragon, because of course she will find idea good enough. She is a Dragonseeker after all and finding a dragon inside is also covered, I guess. She eventually succeeds with it and well, becomes malformed dragon-like creature, blind and mad, lurking in the depths of crystal caves, beneath the archives. Most likely adopts crystal lizards. Because something is just her thing, doesn’t matter in what timeline.

Drake.Sort of related to the previous one, since Nox is again becomes something dragonlike, but in this case by the more… natural way - through the use of dragon stones she eventually got stuck in a form of a drake. Not that she was complaining.Pretty much the general version of Nox, just you know, drake.Also most likely has nothing to do with all that undead prophecies at all.

I am not listing NoShitHappened!AU version of her here, since it is more of an alternative Lordran, not the alternative Nox.

And well, maybe I forgot something, but can’t think about more by now))

Dragonseeker Nox, part I

First of three parts detailing Nox’s life during the Age of Fire and beyond... Abridged and does not include the entirety of her antics, obviously, just the key points

Humble Beginnings

Nox, and she doesn’t actually remember if this is her birth-name or just something that stuck, hails from Vinheim and once upon a time was a student of sorcery at the Dragon School. Not a stellar one, mind me; barely scrapping by is more like it. However, her studies did lead to her first death among the thousands when she attempted to combine self-taught pyromancy with sorcery in an attempt to recreate a glimpse of the fabled and lost fire sorceries. It... backfired.  

Exiled and Hunted

Soon enough discovered as an Undead, she was promptly kicked out of the Dragon School and by extension the entire Vinheim, marking the start of her troublesome journey across the world.  For obvious reasons not particularly welcomed by people, she eventually was sent to the Northern Undead Asylum, spending unknown amount of time there, slowly hollowing out, before being eventually rescued by Oscar.  By this point, however, in an attempt to keep herself whole, Nox started to slightly obsess over dragons. 

To the Land of Gods

Upon arriving to Lordran Nox sets her eyes on meeting Paledrake Seath and mostly works toward this goal, while assisting Solaire in his journey of the Chosen Undead.  She eventually makes good friends with Laurentius and gets taught actual pyromancy, most likely leaving the poor man either fascinated or horrified by what she managed to figure out on her own. She eventually ends up preferring pyromancy to her, still present, sorcery skills.

As for other people and... not entirely people, she generally gets along with others at the Firelink pretty well, snatching her Dragonseeker moniker from good old sleepyhead Frampt the Kingseeker.  

Shattered Dreams

Let’s pour one out for Nox’s hopes and dreams ending up completely shattered by her visit to the Duke. It could not be right, it should not be right, but the images Dragon School and her own imagination painted were a bit off compared to reality.  Choosing denial and bargain over anything else Nox then sets her eyes on the elusive dream of finding any dragons that remain still in the world, studying any information to be found in the Duke’s Archives on the matter. The brief mentions of the Ash Lake send her exploring Blighttown, where she, despite never finding her goal, runs into Quelana, thus fully transitioning from an aspiring sorceress to prodigal pyromancer.  And inadvertently, through a series of seemingly unrelated events, saves Solaire’s life.  

His Very Own Sun

As mentioned before, Nox was hardly the hero of the Chosen Undead story, Solaire happens to be, she however gladly dropped by for some jolly cooperation and just to check on how his life is going, this eventually leading to them challenging Gwyn together.  And so next comes the Linking of the Fire, becoming Solaire’s eventual demise and yet another moment of hope coming crushing down for Nox. Leaving Kiln with the full intention to sue Frampt for the false advertising, she is unable to locate him and eventually, after some time passes, is left at the Firelink Shrine mostly alone, as everyone does move on.

Oh, Aimless Wanderer

She does as well, tagging along with Laurentius towards the Great Swamp, however she does not make it there, separating from him at some point. Her path eventually leads to taking revenge on those, who put her in the Northern Undead Asylum, but this is a whole other story...

Nizsseax: a variety of boluses and specially prepared meats to deal with poisons and toxins, neatly packed, very dignified

Nox: a fistful of blooming moss she would shove in her mouth and start to chew, quite frankly pretty disturbing, better not to ask where it comes from
